The Tammy Sells the ATL team had the privilege of touring the new Sun Trust Park this week. This is the home of the new Atlanta Braves stadium located in Cobb County. The stadium is in the middle of everything. In case you have been living in a hole the last couple of years and don't know this, it is surrounded on the east by I-75, the south by I-285, the west by Cobb Parkway and on the north by Windy Ridge Road. Yes, it is in the heart of Marietta, but is that a good thing or a bad thing? The GADOT is doing all they can by adding new roads, bridges and overpasses, but will this take care of the influx of new traffic? Only time will tell.
The whole idea of bringing the ball park to Marietta was to increase the attendance for the Braves. With the increase of the fan base comes the increase of people. The Battery Atlanta is the entire complex of ball park, retail, restaurants and entertainment. With so many more things to do, the idea is for the fans to get to the Battery early and spend time, and money, while waiting for the game to begin. Also, after the game, some fans will head home, some will get some food and others will stick around and have a drink, hopefully eliminating everyone hitting the roads at the same time. Will it work? We shall see.
The Battery Atlanta will have plenty to do. It is not just a ball park. The regional headquarters for Comcast will be located in the Battery. The Coca Cola Roxy Theater music venue is coming back to the Battery for all to enjoy. There will be over 400,000 square feet of retail and office space and an Omni Hotel for those overnight stays. If you are interested, there is also a mix of residential options to accommodate any lifestyle. With more than 550 modern residences, there will be something for everyone.
Since we are Realtors, what does this new development mean to us? We are hoping that the ball park and the Battery will bring more people to the area looking for homes and apartments. This means an increase in property values for those of us already here. Of course, it could also mean more negative issues in the area and that would bring down property values. We are looking at the positive side and see mostly good things happening in Marietta and Cobb County.
I can honestly say that this is quite a ball park. You're much closer to the field and the action. The sight lines are all very good since this park was designed from the start as a baseball park and not an Olympic Park like Turner Field was. The seats are comfy. Some have a mesh bottom to help with keeping you cooler. The high end seats behind home plate have more cushion than my couch. As you can see in our picture above, they look pretty comfy.
Overall, I am looking forward to the stadium and I hope you are too. And since the Braves have a new home, it is our wish to help you find a new home. If there is anything the Tammy Sells the ATL Team can do to help you with your real estate needs, please let us know.
